Middies Senior Team Swimmers prove their toughness at Senior Mets
Thanks to our volunteer timers & officials!
The Senior team has been increasing yards & intensity at workouts since we returned from the Holiday Classic. Our first chance to see who's gotten stronger & faster came at the Senior Metropolitan Championships. Even unrested & unshaved 50% of our athletes swam PERSONAL BEST TIMES. 2 swimmers made their SECTIONAL CUTS for the first time - MARY MUELLER = 200 breaststroke,  AMY MINOWITZ = 500, 1000 & 1650 freestyle. This brings our total qualifiers up to 12 for this season. Swimming this fast during heavy training give the coaches an idea of who has been applying the necessary effort in their workouts. The Middies placed 4th out of 36 teams. Congratualtions to all who competed.

2004 OLYMPIC GAMES - Jackie & Ilan are headed to Athens!
Jackie Pangilinan will represent the Phillipines in the OLYMPICS in August.
She will compete in the 100m & 200m breaststroke - Jackie is the MIDDIES TEAM RECORD HOLDER in both of these events. She most recently competed in the USA Olympic Trials and is excited about her chance to swim in this INTERNATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP. Jackie graduated from Clifton High School this year and will attend Harvard in September. She has been with the MIDDIES since 2000.

2004 OLYMPIC TRIALS - KAITLYN & JACKIE
Pack your bags & get ready for a Long Course season. Let's see... 3 long weekends in Ft. Lauderdale plus 3 weeks in California, is it an orange juice taste test? Nope, just a glimpse of the fun Kaitlyn Ferguson, Jackie Pangilinan and other MIDDIES SWIMMERS are having this summer. The highlight so far was Olympic Trials. Kaitlyn swam a lifetime best 100m Backstroke and was 1st alternate - missing making semi-finals by only .06 seconds! She was then inspired to time-trial the 200m back and also swam a lifetime best! Jackie competed in the 100m & 200m Breaststroke finishing 19th and 17th in the nation. Her 200 was a personal best, the 100 just fractions of a second off, but still her best ever preliminary time. The girls were joined by their families, some teammates came to cheer them on and coaches Ilan & Kevin.

florida training trip 2004
It's great to train outdoors! 24 Middies spent Memorial Day weekend in Ft Lauderdale and got a jump on their training for the long course season. We spent many hours in the Hall of Fame Pool and plenty in the ocean as well. The picture above was taken moments before our 5K ocean swim. We got a little bit of sun, dined at the finest establishments in the area and trained hard. As you can see above, Molly enjoyed the fresh air and Cara is always happy to go sight-seeing.
